Gowithme - Hidden place in summer - Did you go here? - Kifune Jinja Okumiya (貴船神社奥宮), Kyoto, Japan - 貴船神社奥宮, 京都, 日本 Please share and follow me @gowithme5895 Kifune Jinja Okumiya (貴船神社奥宮) is one of the three main shrines of Kifune Jinja, located in the mountains north of Kyoto, Japan. 1. Location and Significance Okumiya is the deepest and most sacred of the three shrines of Kifune Jinja (Honden, Yui no yashiro, Okumiya). It lies at the end of a path along the beautiful Kifune stream, nestled in peaceful mountains and forests, creating a tranquil and solemn atmosphere. 2. History According to legend, this is where the goddess Tamayorihime-no-Mikoto—the founder of the shrine—placed her golden boat while searching for a place to settle. The shrine was later built to commemorate this event. Okumiya is considered the origin of Kifune Jinja. 3. Beliefs and Experiences The shrine is dedicated to the water deity (Takaokami-no-kami), who is believed to bless people with favorable weather, abundant harvests, and safety on the water. Visitors often experience the “water omikuji” (water fortune-telling): dipping a fortune slip into the sacred stream to reveal their fortune. The shrine is also famous for prayers for romance, safety, and is an ideal place for meditation amid nature. 4. Access From central Kyoto, take a train to Kibuneguchi Station, then transfer to a bus or walk along the stream for about 30 minutes to reach Okumiya. 5. Best Time to Visit Autumn (with red leaves) and spring (with blooming flowers) are ideal times to visit; winter, when the area is covered in snow, is also beautiful and mysterious. #日本 #旅行 #自然 #japantravel #foryoupage #wonderfulplaces #kyoto #hiddenplaces #hiddenplace #japantraveling #visit #summertravel #Summer #beautifullplace #2025 #green #貴船神社
