I know that some people have complaints about Illumicrate's picks but I am actually really enjoying the selection this year! I was so happy they picked The second death of Locke, I am sure the edition is gonna be absolutely gorgeous ♥️

I had an ARC of Mistress of Bones and it was not the best, honestly. The writing was chaotic and all over the place, couldn't keep up, was confusing. I wanted to love it and love supporting new authors but it wasn't for me.

I cannot wait for Illumicrate September! The Second Death of Locke is one of my top 3 reads this year! I wouldn’t call it a ‘straight romantasy’ though. The paring is MF, however both main characters are openly queer (as is the whole main cast, so definitely not straight), and it’s not quite a romantasy either I wouldn’t say. Probably fantasy romance, but it definitely leans towards epic fantasy. I’m sure the design is going to be gorgeous 🥰

September is a big month! I was lucky enough to save a kind someone a skip for the FL combo box. The rest of my keeps are IC, BB, Darkly, OC adult, & faecrate combo. Brand new to me I'm trying Book in a Box and TBB SF/F.

I bet Metal Slinger will be gorgeous. I loved the story. Currently on all the waitlist so sometimes I try not to even look at what’s coming because it makes me sad. Just wish there wasn’t so many people scalping books.

Keeping both Fairyloot, SO excited for Illumicrate too, it's the pick i've been most excited for out of all of theirs this year. Skipping Afterlight and Bookish Box. I really want my Page and Wick too - the customisations will be beautiful and I am interested in this story, but there's also so many special edition sales in September that I want to pick up too so I might have to skip it 😫

I sold my FL Adult too (at cost) and it’s been sold for close to a month already. I’m still trying to sell the YA to try and save a skip. I’ve skipped Illimicrate as my pre-orders are insane in Sept and if I decide later I want it, it’s fairly easy to get the sub book later from Illimicrate. And a note on What Fury Brings - it has not been marketed correctly. It is a DARK romance. I read the arc and personly didn’t like it - too many plot holes, ending seemed “rushed”, and the whole thing just wasn’t done well. It could have been so good, and it just wasn’t (again, just my opinion)
