Nettles are a renowned plant amongst herbalists and wild food foragers, and they have been a staple in human diets for thousands of years. However, many people often forget about the nettle seed! During late summer, the Nettles have often gone to seed, making the leaves not as nutrient rich or as edible as in the spring, but the seeds are in abundance. Nettle seeds are rich in vitamins, minerals and fatty acids which can help the body combat stress, boost energy and mental clarity, balance hormones and help with adrenal exhaustion/fatigue (or burnout). They're easy to collect, and all it takes is cutting down the top of the Nettle plant, drying out the seed over a few days and then storing in a jar to sprinkle on to soups, salads, yogurt bowls, and more.
