I know promiscuous people who don’t have it and not at all promiscuous people who have it. It’s just a virus, if you’re secsually active at all this is a risk you’re taking. You can do everything ‘right’ and still get this.

THIS! & I’ve seen for myself how inaccurate the blood tests were testing for hsv2 and how doctors specifically said to me more than once they usually don’t suggest testing for it til you have an active outbreak.

I don’t know why people try to stigmatize someone who has herpes. Or tries to make someone feel “dirty” for having it…It’s not like anyone signed up for it. If you’re sexually active, you take the risk of catching it. Truth be told, if you’ve had chicken pox, shingles… you have a form of the herpes virus. Smh… people need to grow up and stop stigmatizing a skin condition.

2/3 of the people under 50 have hsv. Might not be “everyone” but it’s definitely the majority. Would be nice if the minority stopped judging us.

As long as your doing the right thing by telling your partners that you have it &keeping your partners safe then no it should not be shamed at all! It's the people who have it &don't care about other people's health, that shit is fucked up!

I've had it 7 years. I'm not ashamed of myself anymore. was going thru a rough time and giving it to my partner (they knew before we slept together)(partner of 5+years) weighs on me. I told my cousin about it and he expressed being disappointed in me. I am no longer disappointed in myself. get over it.

People forget that individuals can get STDs when their partner cheats. There's a stigma that STDs are associated with promiscuity, which is simply untrue. I literally had a body count of 2 when I got HPV and gonorrhea BECAUSE my ex-boyfriend cheated on me and had unprotected sex with another woman. It was the shock of my life. The worst way to find out that you got cheated on is by getting an STD. People need to mind their business.

right.. it literally takes one time to get herpes... ONE... don't be so prideful just because you're fortunate not to have it right now
