neither way is really "common knowledge," I personally don't have a therapist that sends my psychiatrist med updates for me, I contact her directly with that stuff and have separate appointments with her once a month. but I've also had situation like yours. everyone is dealing with a different set up and they shouldn't have started off rudely

each state is different, I've been there therapists who say they can't RX anything and that I have then go to a psychiatrist. different places work in different ways and causes chaos when we try to talk about our experiences. it's frustrating.
