@doc4heart: I’m Dr. Michael Richman, double board certified cardiothoracic surgeon. This week, the American College of Cardiology and the American Heart Association finally changed their guidelines to address the seriousness of untreated high blood pressure and lowered what is considered high blood pressure. They also stressed lifestyle changes as well as medication management. I know this topic is not sexy, but 50% of US adults suffer from high blood pressure and it is one of the leading causes of cardiovascular death, kidney failure, dementia, etc. Please watch this video as it may save your life. I've had hypertension for 20 years. I take 100 mugs of Metroprolo 5mgs of Amlodipine20mg of Lasix. My BP is still high but my HR is in the 50's. I avoid processed foods.Add no extra fat and lower carbs. I do cardio 150 minutes per week. I measure my BP twice a day.I just don't know what else to do.

Recently diagnosed with hbp & started 25mg Losartan. Systolic readings were 140/150s. My diastolic is always below 80. I’m down to the 120s with the 25mg. Should I ask my cardiologist to increase dosage to get below 120 or is that a good reading?
