@beakerchud: When we compare women of the Neolithic farming cultures, who descended from Anatolian early farmers, with Europe’s earlier hunter-gatherer women, the differences are striking. Neolithic farmer women were generally shorter, more gracile, and narrower in build, reflecting a diet based on agriculture and a lifestyle centered around settled villages. By contrast, Western Hunter-Gatherer women tended to be more robust, broad-faced, and strongly built, shaped by a life of constant mobility, foraging, and high-protein diets. Eastern Hunter-Gatherer women often showed even taller stature and longer limb proportions, reflecting their adaptation to colder steppe environments, their highly mobile way of life, and their mixed ancestry, being part Western Hunter-Gatherer, and majority Ancient North Eurasian, which contributed to their distinctive physical traits. Each group carried the imprint of their environment and subsistence strategy, visible in their skeletons and reconstructions, farmers more delicate and compact, hunter-gatherers more rugged and physically imposing.
