By doing this, you'll greatly increase the speed at which you can become fluent. In Mandarin Chinese, if you change the tone, you change the word. So, if you jump into memorizing new words too quickly, you might be memorizing everything incorrectly. Don't do that! Methodically master tones and pronunciation. That's my biggest tip.
