Anyone who knows a sprinkling of history isn't phased by this "he was Turkish and the st George's cross is Turkish" bollocks, not just because it isn't true but because it's not what is important regarding our affinity with st George. he predates turkey by centuries, not that it matters. We English venerated st George as a warrior Christian saint and a martyr of Christ in England, during the time of king Edward the 3rd, when he formed the order of the garter in which st George was the patron saint and later when Richard Lionheart made it our rallying banner during the crusades. It had nothing to do with race or geography, it has everything to do with our Christian heritage and our values of honour, courage, faith, chivalry and other related virtues. Deus vult, God bless England and Saint George 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 raise the colours.
