Grew up in the etter Texas area we had it all 6”-8” gated plastic and aluminum and lots of ditch water with tubes really never had poly pipe then in the late 80’s early 90’s it went to all pivot irrigation

Funny thing about the Caprock part. My Dad (from Post, we’ve discussed before) used the name Caprock as a CB handle, was his nickname from a friend because he lived near Caprock. And he raised chickens (bantams) and his business card and caps said Caprock’s Chicken Coop on them.

We row watered and had side rows. That’s why I quit farming and went to mechanic.

Been doin this shit since I was about 5 and hated it ever since I’m 31 now and this was I believe the first year I didn’t flood water anything and MAN it still sucks dealing with pivots and laterals 😂😂😂😂 but at least I’m down to around 6 pivots and 2 running at a time most the time instead of about 30 running at once

Mississippi delta farmer here. We hate pivots. We tear pivots down as fast as we can and precision level everything and row water. Rice of course is flood irrigated but a lot of people are row watering it now too. I personally don’t care for row watering rice because it’s difficult to control weeds.
