Also ice water helps. I used to work at Wendy’s and had to make 10 containers of onion slices a day. Putting them in ice water right after slicing helped.

I'm no mathematician but it's always been my understanding from a classically trained chef I used to work with its the oils in the onion that make your eyes water. According to him, it's essential to use a very sharp knife when slicing and that a dull knife pushes through rather than slices it which makes the oils mist into the air. so it would make sense that a slight freeze on the oils would help

Well I’ve heard never to put onions in the fridge (does something to them that is not healthy for you) but I can’t remember what or why😩🙁🤷♀️. 😘😘❤️❤️
