Someone in my apartment building put cat litter down their garbage disposal, so much so that the entire buildings plumbing got blocked up and it basically turned the pipes into concrete. I don’t understand people sometimes.

I grew up in a disposal family and my parents put all food in there no matter what so the trash didn’t smell. I live in nyc now so i don’t have one and i wish every day that i did lol

lol not trying to be all save the planet from the climate crisis (but hey, let’s!) and using the garbage disposal for food can help to reduce methane emissions that occur during rotting. Composting is better obvi, but keeping it out of landfills is a big deal. (I work for TED’s climate initiative if that carries any weight 🤷♀️whatevs.) your choice!

I have gotten in multiple arguments with my roommate because she keeps putting actual garbage in it (plastic ties, press on nails, etc)

I was an intern at Insinkerator and they literally tell you to pick chicken bones in the running garbage disposal to clean it. Put anything you want in there!!!! The only thing that isn’t good is fibrous things like celery and flower stems.
