If it were just corn sites, that wouldn't be so bad - but it isn't. Also, the major issue for me personally is that ultimately this isn't about protecting minors. It's a huge data grab and the verification is being outsourced to private companies.

It’s not only the corn sites in the uk though, it’s now hitting sites that offer advice to sh/si people and yes children seeking advice, and even information sites like Wikipedia. The problem is, this law can be applied to any site or type of information the government decides is adult. Parental controls at home are universally available, parents just don’t use it. Use the money thrown at this to educate parents to use the very good services they already have instead. VPN suppliers are going to make bank, I wonder who in government has shares in those VPN companies?
