I'm sorry but COVID has nothing to do with these kids who are taking GCSES. maybe the oldest kids, but no. we need to stop blaming COVID for the exam results. start blaming teachers/kids

Also how can she say GCSE’s aren’t hard when they literally WERE NOT even a thing when she was in school… I’d like to see her sit a math/english gcse exam and see how she does

How can you blame Covid for their results. Kids who do GCSE’s today were in year 6 when Covid happened. I feel like in 10 years time we’ll still be saying stuff like this 🤦‍♂️

need to stop using covid as an excuse now - they were in year 6 and 7 during covid - gcses don’t even start until year 9/10 they had no impact whatsoever

40,000 teachers left the profession last year due to lack of support from government, parents and poor student behaviour...perhaps the lower results are the result of what teachers have been saying for a while now? The kids I teach that got below a 4 were the ones who could not be less bothered all year and took early study leave because they "focus better at home" despite the fact I knew and tried so hard to engage them but they weren't having it and the parent support was "well they struggle to focus if they aren't interested in the articles they have to read so I haven't pushed them" unfortunately the example to the only ones in charge of the articles in their exam paper and we have to prepare them for even the most boring of articles!

I'm sorry but I do think covid should not be used as an excuse. Not only the effects of covid but my daughter missed 6 weeks of learning due to Glandular fever at the end of year 10. She still managed to pass with 7, 8s and 9s. Hard work, commitment and support got her through. Shear determination.
