@store.curiosity: Day 105 - The glass octopus (Vitreledonella richardi) is a rare, nearly transparent deep-sea cephalopod found in tropical and subtropical oceans. Its gelatinous body renders it almost invisible in the water, with only its eyes, digestive tract, and optic nerves visible. Measuring up to 45 cm (18 inches) long, it uses transparency as camouflage in the dim ocean depths. Unlike other octopuses, it has elongated arms with few suckers and minimal pigmentation. Little is known about its behavior due to its elusive nature, but its ghostly appearance and deep-sea habitat make it one of the ocean’s most mysterious and captivating creatures. #glassoctopus
