But the move is stirring questions, as a law was passed banning the app from being used on government-issued devices. In 2022, the ban became a law after the Senate voted, unanimously, to ban federal employees from using the popular social media app on government-issued devices. The TikTok ban first emerged in 2020 when Trump said it posed national security concerns to citizens and the government due to its Chinese parent company.
