as a man i think the second half of your point is very true, a lot of the times men do feel attacked when their partner challenges them to grow but A. its not a gender thing because women do it as wel B. i dont think its due to the fact that men are "praised" not loved because men are not praised, in a relationship most of the time as a man your only value is financial and not much else. i think a bigger reason as to why men feel attacked is more so how they are raised by society to think their emotions arent valid
