I see another person commenting about how costly it is to be a farmer.. one thing that can be said for your type of farming or keeping cattle is at least there is a possibility of a return, keeping horses fir example is a hugely expensive undertaking and depending upon whether you have them for work or eventing sometimes a ribbon is the only return. Either way still love watching and learning about your work.

oh that rain sounds good.
here in South Tas we have had so little rain for the past few years, so many farms are destocking cattle and sheep to very low numbers. we just have so little feed 😞

Do you use pestigard for your breeders? And is there a reason for 5in1 vs 7in1?

Nothing better than the sound of rain on a corrugated roof.

It’s Weather in Melbourne for you.☀️🌤️⛈️☔️(sun, rain, hail, storm and sun again) So unpredictable, which is horrible, especially when you’ve drenched all those cows in the paddock. Sad you’ll possibly have to re-do the cows 🐄 that you’ve already done. So expensive, but a necessity. Thx for the explanation. I’m now going to de-worm my dogs, as it’s that time again. 😱😳⚡️Hopefully the weather and gun last for your whole herd, next time you do it. Don’t you just love the unpredictability of the weather 🌦️in Melbourne?

It’s quite an education for us non farmers. Never realised how much work and expense was involved.

Hope the rain continued. Storm Erin has given us a few good downpours so that should help our grass situation and save a bit on the hard feed and a at last! Still quite warm. Just shows the investment that goes into your animals! XX

Does the downpour not dilute the drench, meaning it runs off?

I’m sure I watched Cole at Sonne Farms in America talking about something in the pore on drench affects the joints in the gun tubes as him and his dad were doing 200 cattle on You Tube the other day.
