lol. Dune was heavily based on Tsarist Russia and the Caucasuses. You can like, look up what the author wrote and thought about his own work. Your projection of a pretty 21st century idea onto the work could be a valid interpretation but that does mean it’s what Herbert was thinking when he wrote it

Problem with books is that every pseud thinks things are allegory. You know it’s easier to write an article than it is a novel. Sometimes a guy just wants to write a book about sandworms. Your interpretation is less valuable than you think. And you are max 115 iq.

My favorite part about all the "Dune is about..." debates is that if you just read the books, you dont have any real questions about what its about. Its really straight forward about its intended philosophical, political and social messages right off rip, and the narrative does a good job of leading you through it all. The problem is that the narrative is so emotionally impactful that people resonate with it in such a way that they twist and warp the intended meaning to fit what makes them feel better about themselves.

It’s loosely based on the story of Lawrence of Arabia, so the more direct parallel is the British occupation of the Middle East, but the allegory does also work for any imperial exploitation of resource rich deserts with arbitrarily drawn borders.
