@scenicfights: Filipino Martial Artist Breaks Down Frodo’s Sting Sword, and discusses the pros and cons of it for battle 🗡️🗡️🗡️ #scenicfights #martialarts #lordoftherings #lotr #bladesmith 🎥 This movie clip is from The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring (2001). ⚠️ Disclaimer: The techniques shown in this video are demonstrated for educational and entertainment purposes only. Do not attempt to replicate these moves, as they may be dangerous without proper training and supervision. 📜 History: Sting is a legendary Elven blade from the hidden city of Gondolin, crafted in the First Age alongside mighty swords like Glamdring and Orcrist. Though originally forged as a dagger for Elves, its size made it a perfect short sword for Hobbits. Discovered by Bilbo Baggins in a troll hoard during his journey in The Hobbit, Sting earned its name after Bilbo used it to slay giant spiders in Mirkwood. Passed down to Frodo in The Lord of the Rings, the blade became a vital companion on his quest to destroy the One Ring, glowing blue in the presence of Orcs and aiding in battles from Moria to Shelob’s Lair. Symbolizing courage, resilience, and the quiet strength of the small and unassuming, Sting remains one of Middle-earth’s most iconic weapons.

I do appreciate bringing up the cons, cause for us/the elfs, this was an insignificant little short sword that was probably ceremonial of anything. But in the hands of a halfling, it gained enough renown to be given a name, a legacy

Frodo used Sting a total one 1 time throughout the entire trilogy if I remember correctly and that was in Moria. Maybe he pulled it out on Weathertop, idk. I know Sam went to town on Shelob and some orcs with it tho.

Another problem is that Frodo never trained in swordsmanship. Swords are difficult weapons to use without any training.

But the blade is Elvish in design, so by that metric isn't already extra durable?

Actually if I remember correctly the elves (the creators of sting) intended sting to be used as a dagger but due to the small size of hobbits it was used as a one handed sword by Frodo and Bilbo.

okay I have a side question that nobody else has answered me because I've asked a lot of other weapons channels to do this and no one will answer me back or make a video. if someone only trained in something like Filipino martial arts, that's a lot of slashing and was given something like a small sword that's only for stabbing and then you take the opposite someone who's only ever trained with a small sword and then you give them some kind of a curved slashing weapon. so the tip alignment isn't there or even something like a cleaver that doesn't have a tip and put them in a fight togetherwho would be at the disadvantage?
