Lucy Connolly's posts weren't merely “opinionated”, they were threatening and violent hate speech. On the day of the Southport killings, she publicly called for "mass deportation now" and urged people to “set fire to all the f---ing hotels full of the b-----s” (i.e. asylum seekers). Then she added, “If that makes me racist, so be it.” The court found this crossed the legal line from free speech into criminal incitement of racial hatred under UK law. That’s why she was sentenced. now u could argue that her sentence was hash, which I do agree to.
