OP's daughter is TA. This is her husband's dream come true and she's standing in his way for her own selfish reasons. Threatening to leave her husband and take the baby, is just exactly that, a threat. She needs to get into therapy and deal with her fears. But son in law should not turn down this once in a lifetime opportunity.

The big issue here is why is she getting violent, hitting him and threatening to take his child away?!? She needs some serious therapy. He also needs to think if this is the relationship he wants to raise his child in.
