Get a Stanley scraper and scrape the glue off. It will also take and lumps and bumps off the wall. Then rub it down with sand paper.

I'd say instead of new carpet maybe hard wearing lino as its a high traffic area be easier to keep clean etc xx

I would sand the walls then paint with a good washable mat or satin paint (not gloss if its not skirtings or doors). I would replace the carpet with some wood effect vinyl flooring 👍 How lovely that you will be now getting your own room, what a wonderful mother you are 🥰

I would get ikea unit that takes boxes for games and books probably get it on Facebook marketplace cheap get tic tok Stick down flooring planks amazing and sand door first try scrape glue off first with wallpaper stripper filling knife x
