@baroque.blended: SOMETIMES THE ANGELS FALL NOT IN FLAMES, BUT IN WIRES. In Morning Star (2008), exhibited within the silent grandeur of Holy Trinity Church in Marylebone, Paul Fryer reimagines the figure of Lucifer as a waxen form suspended and ensnared by taut cables—wings outstretched, body contorted in a moment of divine rebellion turned tragic. The figure glints in the dim light of stained glass, caught between flight and defeat, science and spirituality, precision and surrender. Crafted from wax, aluminum, silicon rubber cord, and feathers, the sculpture melds organic fragility with mechanical restraint. It didn’t just occupy space—it disrupted it, collapsing sacred architecture and modern myth into a single unsettling, unforgettable image. Viewed in a church no longer in regular use, it felt like memory wrestling with modernity, faith grappling with doubt. This fallen figure—once exhibited briefly and now held in private care—remains a haunting testament to art’s power to animate silence, to remind us that even in the sacredest spaces, grace can fracture—and beauty can bleed from the cracks. If the brightest star of all can end up grounded, what does that reveal about the true cost of rebellion? #B#BaroqueBlendedA#ArtA#ArtistP#PaulFryerM#MorningStar
