@thephysioed: Most people are surprised that going down stairs feels tougher than going up after a knee replacement. Here’s why: 🦵 Quads = brakes → they have to work eccentrically to control your body weight with every step down. 🍑 Hips = stabilizers → they keep you from wobbling side to side. 🦶 Ankles = shock absorbers → they control the landing and need flexibility to bend forward. 👉 Going up = power. 👉 Going down = control. And control is always harder to rebuild after surgery. Train the quads, hips, and ankles together for smoother stair descent. #stairs #physicaltherapy #totalkneereplacement #kneereplacement @Kevin Murray what about these shoes?
Going down stairs is still a work in progress for me. I’m improving but it’s not as smooth as I’d like

I think I’m the only one who goes down better than up the stairs.

Why or how did we lose ankle mobility? Had it before surgery.

My PT always say-good to heaven(up),bad to hell(down).. Going up use your non surgery leg(good)going down use you surgery leg(bad).. Much easier on the surgery leg both ways.
