It’s July of 2014 and your wife just told you she got the teaching job for Grafenwoehr Germany! Graf-en what? 🤨 Harry potter vibes You went straight to Google and couldn’t find anything, so you grew a beard, bought a lederhosen T-shirt, and started practicing how to drink beer out of “das boot,” cuz that’s the only way you knew how to prepare for Germany. In one month you sold both your cars, packed your life, and said goodbye to family & friends in California. Robin Williams passed away the day you left. That wasn’t a good sign. Yet you were hopeful, and scared sh*t-less that this would still be an incredible adventure (at least that’s what you convinced your wife). When you showed up to the airport, the airline had your wife in 34J and you were in 46K. Your wife panicked. So the friendly ticket agent finally put your seats together. As you were getting on the plane, the same ticket agent tapped you on the shoulder and asked if you wanted to be in business class because you flashed that veteran ID! Merica! F* ya! There’s the vibe we were looking for! You forgot her name but took a selfie with her ❤️ Time to dust off that little GoPro you bought to capture your new life because you just landed in Germany, it’s Sunday, you’re ready to explore your new town… and boom, culture shock hits.
