The birthday thing would probably be the last straw. Maybe it’s just me but I’ve never seen women cut off long time friends over small stuff and it usually is after accumulation of stuff that took years. Also we have not to act like sleeping with someone adds a lot to the mix.

Idk so much about the first point. Some girls def have that double standard but I think a lot of what you’re getting at here stems from the standard of intimacy/trust/connection being so much higher within female friendships so those kinds of betrayals hit different

I've really worked on this because I noticed I 100% gave men who treated me awful way too many chances, now I'm ✂️✂️off people regardless of gender, and now I can recognize internalized misogyny in others and move accordingly. It really changes everything.

As a queer person I wonder how this phenomenon pans out across the board. I definitely gave way more chances to ex's than friends, so I wonder if a lot of women are choosing the idea of love over friends vs choosing a man over women? Like do lesbians abandon their friends less, typically? 🤔 I think the result is largely the same but I wonder if for some, the reasoning has less to do with centering men, as centering monogamy (which is still patriarchy so yeah😅)

I 100000% agree. A lot of women have a scarcity mindset when it comes to men. They see friendships as easily replaceable but not romantic relationships that why they would NEVER hold their friends and partner to the same standards. Also why women tend to make their relationship their whole personality, removing themselves from their friendships and hobbies when in a relationship. Men would NEVER.
