I am a fan of the the TGA testing sunscreens but not limiting the compounds that can be used as a sunscreen.

are they gonna apologise to choice?? their reaction was basically trying to discredit choice.

The way UV reacted initially to Choice’s testing was so off putting given how they’ve had to backtrack now. Lost a customer forever as far as I’m concerned.

They are deleting negative comments and blocking users. I was blocked on Insta for commenting “you owe choice an apology“ this and the Friday PR trick of dropping the news tells me all I need to know about them as a company.

according to ultra violette, the recalled sunscreen was the only one of their products that was made by a third party manufacturer. I'm thinking that played a factor into how poorly it did

This whole debate has just shown how important having an independent, not-for-profit organisation such as Choice is. Their work is invaluable.

If they had just answered choice. Who had been chasing them for over a year. Then maybe it wouldn’t had gone so bad.

I’m an extremely pale person who trusts you. Any idea about the American brand Neutrogena? I’ve been using the a 65. I know they say it doesn’t make a difference above 30 but I’m really pale. I apply a lot & reapply. I’m happy to try Aussie. We just have Blue Lizard. Thoughts? Thank you!

I wonder how the Tatcha spf50 and Kosas Dream Beam would test, those are my favourites but sometimes I’m doubtful of their rating.

Can we all give some thought to the other ss that tested lower than claimed and their communication with customers so far. Also there are many many spf’s that were never tested. What about them. Isn’t it about time the entire spf industry was reviewed.i have no confidence in any sunscreen.

Is there a reason to be suspicious of the other Ultra Violette sunscreens such as the Supreme Screen which is chemical?

No one loves relying on mineral sunscreens but some of us are just unlucky and allergic to all "chemical" filters (yes I've tried all including new gen available outside US). So they need to figure this shit out bc many of us don't have a choice.

I had questions about their test methods at first. They had all the test information avilable so I was able to get my questions answered. I have a masters in analytical chemistry.

unrelated but how does makeup not interfere with SPF? Like most makeup these days contain ingredients like vitamin c, hyaluronic etc. How does it not affect the integrity of the sunscreen? 🤔

I really think that the spf tests are flawed because they rely solely on humans but on the other hand, humans are the intended use. It's tricky and definitely requires more thorough testing guidelines and other in vitro testing protocols.

Does there seem to be any correlation between smaller brands and bigger brands? For instance are large brands like Neutrogena, L'Oreal, Olay, less likely to have inconsistencies since they generally have more chemists and scientists making their formulations?
