Hi 👋🏻 Im a Nurse. I appreciate you speaking up. Thank you. I agree with everything you said. I wanted to give you and others a little peace of mind about narcan. It is still effective for quite a long time after the expiration date. The effects do decrease as time goes on, but properly stored, it can last a long time past expiration. Even if you do run into a situation where you have to use expired improperly stored narcan. USE IT ANYWAY. It will not hurt the patient to use it even if its expired. Its better to try it and save a life than never know if you could have helped. Also, usually your local health department gives out kits for free no questions asked. Be safe everyone 💛

I get it free at festivals. I get my friends to each get one too. Then I give them to my college kids and their friends. You never know when a person may accidentally take something too much for them. I have one in my car and some at work, it’s necessary.

As a librarian, I’m guessing that machine is funded through a grant or program not just general tax dollars. But her attitude is so familiar-we had an opportunity to do narcan training and there was SO much resistance because “it’s not my responsibility “

it actually makes more sense that a granny on opiods could accidentally OD on them if she forgets that she just took her meds 20mins ago and takes it again. and in her fragile age could suffer respiratory failure (OD) more easily.
