For your roach question, if it's the large ones, those are easily killed. Not a big deal at all for Texas. If it's the small ones (German Roaches), those are a lot harder to kill. Still doable, but it'll take a few months of vigilance. They like butter/grease, so keep it clean and put out the special kill sauce just for them.
