the fascists will always try to shut people down because their ideas don't stand up to scrutiny. The only reason why they don't want people recording is because they don't want people to know what's going on. if you're at town hall that is quite literally the definition of the public square. if you're recording something at Town Hall, that's quite literally what in America the first amendment was designed to protect.
