there is a cost to counting and wrapping the coins. banks are seeing customers getting rolled coins one day and the same customer bring them back unrolled the next day. its costing the bank money, that's why they don't want to do it.

There is a big difference between using coins for legal tender and coins for collection. The banks want the coins to circulate through the market but can’t when people are buying coin rolls to open them and return them the next day.

Why is it so bad if we go cashless anyway? I understand that our money can be tracked and the card issuers take a cut. But ultimately it stops financial crime from money laundering to mugging and it’s so much more convenient for day to day purchases

just a reminder AFCA will give the bank a fine for just getting a complaint. Banks take these complaints pretty seriously too.

banks are cracking down on people who get coin rolls only to open them and return them immediately once they cant find "rare coins". these people ruin it for small business who needs these change

Would it be possible that Aussie Banks are circumventing IMF or World Bank Code of conduct and world good practices ? Circulation of money, coins, etc are part of a monetary system . That National system must abide by a good conduct code. I would reach out to international organisations

in regional areas, banks are closing. we are being pushed to be cashless. banks don't want to deal in cash. no fun if you like to noodle through coins.

I work at a bank and we only get a certain amount of coins in and it’s first in best dressed pretty much. We don’t decline to people for no reason. It’s because we have none left. Def order and they will put it aside for you.
