@mountainmenofalaska: Tonight I went out with Kyle who had been recommended to me as a model for the 2027 Mountain Men of Alaska calendar. I didn’t have childcare so he even offered for my daughter to come along on the ride. Our vision for the shoot was a sexy bird nerd next to Emerald Cove, a local black legged kittiwake colony. Kyle donned a Ray Troll, Dark Side of the Loon belly shirt that he had cut himself. I hopped on another local captain’s boat that he had enlisted for the photoshoot, and we were repositioning the boat for the correct lighting when this happened. His friend and fellow captain, Emily, who was assisting with driving the boat at the time, cut the motor as soon as she saw the humpback. Although it would have been amazing to actually time the shoot to get the whale in there, I’m so happy that I captured the magic of one of the last remaining local humpbacks, likely starting to make its way from Alaska to Hawaii.
