Not just Florida. Here in ohio I had a monthly electric bill of around $125 (1750 Sq. ft. house). Power company came through and installed "smart meters" I haven't had a bill under $300 since. My bill says I use about $35 of electricity a month, then $125 generation fee, $50 distribution fee, $60 breathing fee by the time is said and done, my $35 of electricity cost me more than $300. That's a higher mark up than on diamonds.

most electric companies have a minimum monthly charge, 30 is still way better than 123
