Wow may I remind you it is a Caribbean cultural event NOT A STREET PARTY!! It use to be a protest march against racism and institutional racism which still exists in this country. Let’s remember the roots and remember how far we have come! People forget that Carnival works in the long term. First, it's a way for youth in marginalised communities to have a controlled way to channel their extreme emotions through a one-day highly destructive cathartic event as a payout to those communities that cause gentrification. Second, the destruction and disorder creates jobs like boarding up by carpenters, rubbish collectors, property repairs, painting... In the long term works so society can act rationally for the rest of the year and achieve equality 🥰♥️
