This is me, I find reading from a screen like an iPad keeps me more engaged than paperback

maybe we need to go back to reading kids and teens books again - I think we’re all missing whimsical and fun plots

My reading rate slowly declined over the years as I got older, and I don’t necessarily think it’s bc of our phones! Life simply just got busy, what worked for me is to pick a really good book that you for sure will enjoy reading and (this is the harder part) force yourself to make time. After finishing the first book, reading just comes naturally and it becomes fun again! It’s all about commitment, I think 😊

I have the same problem and was the same as a child! I started a book club with my friends a few months ago and now I’ve read two books this year. Which is a feat!

Yess!! I’m trying to be back into reading too 🥲🥲 Social media has truely fried our dopamine receptors. I’ve returned to reading through quick reads/collections of short stories - it’s like priming my brain to enjoy the process again before getting into thicker novels

i was obsessed with hp and twilight then went to romances and then i moved countries and stopped. specially after getting in a relationship it’s so hard to read romances 😭 and self help books are also boring, u can literally find that info on google. kindle didn’t help me either cause it’s feels like watching a screen

It can def be screens but i’d argue that when you’re a kid/teen and you read these complex books you dont comprehend as much of it, which let you finish the book faster. Even the same books ive read as a teen vs now as an adult take longer bc i find myself rereading sections or really taking my time with the book rather than trying to finish it asap and get on to the next. Just a different perspective! With gained life experience theres more to reflect on in literature as well.
