WHY I SAY, “IF IT’S NOT MATIANG’I, AFADHALI RUTO AMALIZE.” I have rarely said anything positive about President Ruto, but on the Nairobi–Nakuru–Mau Summit Highway and the Rironi–Maai Mahiu–Naivasha Road, I have to give credit where it is due. For those of us who regularly travel between Nairobi and Western Kenya, we know the suffering on this road. Traffic here is not just an inconvenience,it can be a complete nightmare. I remember one day I got caught in traffic and spent FIVE HOURS covering barely 20 kilometres. Five hours! You move a few metres, stop. Move again, stop. After an hour, you are still looking at the same shops, the same trucks and almost the same spot.By the third hour, you've finished your snacks, finished your stories, switched off the engine several times, and started questioning why you didn't just stay . And the painful part? You haven't even started the real journey to Kisii. If you've experienced those endless traffic jams around Rironi, Limuru, Maai Mahiu, Kinungi and Naivasha, you understand exactly what I'm talking about. Those of us who travel to Western Kenya have suffered on this road! Huwezi kuelewa shida ya hii barabara kama kwenu ni kwenda Nyeri ama Mombasa. This traffic nightmare has been with us through the Kibaki government and the Uhuru government. Different plans and proposals came and went, but those of us travelling to Western Kenya continued suffering. Now, under President Ruto, we are finally seeing major construction underway to expand this critical corridor. I can shout “ONE TERM!” as much as I want , but when something good is being done, I have to pause and acknowledge it. On this one, I have to give President Ruto his flowers. Well done! Nitakuwa mnafiki if I don't say anything positive about this simply because I oppose him politically. Good work deserves recognition, regardless of who does it.
