I don’t disagree but Boris will definitely complain about renting forever too 😂 His whole problem is that he thinks the right living situation will cure all of his emotional problems and he will continue to blame the external circumstances for being imperfect instead of his own inability to change a water filter without a meltdown.

It’s crazy the amount of people who complain about home maintenance. A filter every few months? That takes 10 minutes to change and costs $30? How many filters are you changing? Most systems don’t need to be touched more than once a year and there aren’t that many systems.

Home ownership was not for us. I thoroughly didn’t enjoy my mortgage payment increasing every year from my property taxes when nothing had changed. PMI is a scam. Renting is easier and an additional $30 YOY is nothing while in still save money.

It’s goofy to complain abt those things in “homeownership” bc they’re all still necessary as a renter too. Now lawn care, repairs & general maintenance IS something to complain abt in homeownership & if you don’t like those things, aren’t prepared to do them & pay for them, homeownership is not for you. I’ll be selling next month specifically bc of those things & will happily rent forever before I ever spend my time or money to mow a lawn or fix a gutter again.

The funny thing is that as a renter you are at the mercy of the landlord or management company. If they want to take forever to fix a problem you either have to pay for it yourself to be fixed faster or keep hounding the landlord/mgmt co. Which is no different than if you had to do the exact same thing yourself for your own home. 😂 Also, home warranty insurance (not same as home insurance) exists… helps w keeping surprise costs down.
