I don’t know if I agree with this. I believe, atleast the few true narcissists I have met knew exactly what they were doing. How they were treating people. It was about control; power.

This was such a good way to explain it. I am 11 months out of leaving the narcissist I was with for 18 years. He was severely physically psychologically emotionally verbally abusive all the things. Addictions cheating stealing all of the things. I kept forgiving bc I loved him and believed he’d change but it was always just a mask. When I kicked him out for physically assaulting me, he turned me into the villain and ran off with his 24 yr old gf and still tries to make me the bad guy when I’m raising our kids alone now with NO help and NO child support. He tells ppl “I kidnapped them” bc I moved 13 hours away to keep me and my kids safe. I have full custody. He doesn’t tell the part. Where he refused to do anything to help me so I could go to work when I was still living where he was. I had to pay babysitters daily just to be able to work and pay the bills. It’s insane how these ppl think. They should be locked in institutions bc they’re a danger to society
