Semantics, but: Sports betting is not ruining young men's lives. Young men are ruining their own life with betting. betting is not something that happens to them, they are actively choosing to gamble.

My kids (teenagers) have friends that spend a ton of money on sports gambling. That’s not going to end well.

sports betting is a slippery slope. It’s been legalised in Australia for ages a large amount of the young male demographic struggle with moderation with it. America is in for a shock as it becomes more common (which it’s basically already there). This is just facts too. Worth reading the studies on it to see how much it takes from people through addiction

If I go to a casino and play $25 in a slot machine instead of spending the same amount at a movie theater, then it was a good date with myself even if I leave with less cash. 🫣🙂

I feel like the term "middle class" is misleading now. People use it to refer to a lifestyle that is now well above what the average person can afford.

You shouldn't be able to gamble on your phone from your couch. full stop. make it illegal. if you want to gamble that badly make them go to a physical location to do it

Gambling should be legal but it should never be advertised. Also shouldn’t have apps, people should have to place bets with an in-person sportsbook.

This is the country where guns are legal. Of course gambling’s going to be. But this is also a country where you’re free to make your own decisions. Just decide not to do it. Just play video games or something else instead.

It’s not sports betting itself, it’s the fact it’s easily accessible at basically all times, mass marketed by every company and able to send you push notifications at all hours. Traditional bookies were physical places that you had to be in or at least call up, it’s harder to hide an addiction if you have to be in a specific place or are always on the phone. Betting apps however are extremely easy to hide and there’s a whole incredibly popular ecosystem online dedicated to it

when it comes to bitcoin question. one day... someday. the dollar is going to be worthless and we will need a new currency. economist experts believe that to happen in the next 15 yrs. crypto can be transferred in any form, not just USD. so it can be useful for the next currency we decide to create. idk what, but yes, we will not have US dollar in 20 years.

I’ll never understand why the same politicians who legalized sports betting are now taxing losing bettors with the new “big beautiful bill”. It’s almost evil to allow companies to push such an addictive and manipulative industry on the American people, and then directly contradict yourselves in the tax code by saying “We want to discourage gambling”. Why even legalize it in the first place then?!

Unfortunately the loudest opposition was 100% correct about legalizing sports gambling. The apps have poured millions into engineering the experience, identifying those with addict behavior, and kicking out the people who actually have an edge. Bankruptcy rises in states where it’s legal, there are more violent incidents in cities when the home team loses, etc
