I remember trying to ride my bike through a ford aged about 6 or 7. “Don’t stop” was mum’s advice. Reader, I pedalled so hard, but the moment I touched the water my feet left the pedals and I stopped right in the middle. We laughed so hard. I’m 48 now, and it’s a core childhood memory. This is what it’s all about. ❤️

Brilliant, all part of the experience. I remember when I tried to cross a stream, the gravel was soft and I started falling to the side. I couldn't unclip from my pedal and fell completely over and got fully submerged in 18 inches of water. In February. My friends laughed so hard they couldn't walk for a good few minutes. And we had over 30km left to cycle.
