Most people have been spoon-fed the Disney Princess/ Hollywood Romcom version of what a relationship should look like. People on the Aro/Ase spectrum can and do have meaningful partnerships... arguably more meaningful than "normal" pairings. It's all about communication and maintaining expectations, something every relationship should prioritize.

I didn’t understand I was Aro until my mid-40s. I had tried dating for so long, and I would always end up feeling panicked about getting into a relationship. Putting a name to it was such a relief.

thanks for speaking up. sometimes when I've spoken online about aromanticism in general or my own experience I've been met with ridicule, abuse or disbelief. I've even had to block people I knew personally due to their comments
