@beyondflorida: The Seaboard Air Line Railroad pushed deep into Florida in the early 1900s, running sleek passenger trains like the Silver Meteor from the Northeast down to Miami and Tampa. It helped open the state to tourism and trade, turning once-remote towns into bustling stops before highways and airline travel led to its decline and eventual mergers in the 1960s. Yulee, Florida, was one of those towns affected by the demise of the Seaboard Air Line Railroad. Thanks for watching #floridaenvironment #floridahistory #florida #railroadhistory #railroads

Yulee has become an over developed piece of Florida. It is very sad. I was raised in Fernandina and live in Yulee

It’s a shame!! We’re losing our scenery, and Florida is losing its history!! I understand progress happens and change needs to happen!! But, not at the expense of our scenery and wildlife!!

I don't know why your railroad videos make me sad. I'm not from a town that was built around it but I know that the end of train stops in a town often ruined them.

i'd love to know more about this railroad in pasco county, they ripped up all of the rails but you can see where it used to run if you look on a map

I was just in Yulee in March. I guess there was a real cool small forgotten motel here for years but has now been leveled.

the traffic through Callahan is now horrible because of all the building to the north. I fear we are next to turn into a Jacksonville suburb!!

In the early 60’s, Seaboard Railroad merged with the Atlantic Coast Railway therefore creating what was then the Seaboard Coastline Railroad that brought it down the Jacksonville. It served freight and passenger delivery. Eventually Amtrak took over passenger runs while Seaboard merged with the Chessie System to create the now CSX Railroad. My dad worked for them for many years.
