the sexualization in monogatari especially nise is a direct response to the public municipal act that was attempting to censor Japanese media - it's showing that it's fine and good. The fans like it and it has meaning and purpose. Both can be true

this specifically is my favorite part of it and is why i relate to it as a woman! hitagi is the best example of this i think, and her choosing to express herself sexually despite her trauma is her choice, her honesty with araragi, her willingness to open up and be close with him, which is really really cool to see. i love the series sm and hitagi is the most relatable character i’ve seen in a series ever, because of how she is wholly portrayed

you had me hooked until the very last sentence!! manic pixie dream girls are for sure a part of the male fantasy , but they dont HAVE to be written that way. women in real life fit that archetype, and so many of monogataris characters do, what matters is the execution & i think monogatari does well with it. for example, senjougahara is shown to be nuanced version of the trope and can sometimes directly contradict it out of free will, just like real women! and ougi is kind of a deconstruction of the trope

Been on the fence about watching monogatari for a while but seeing you be so passionate about it has convinced me to give it a shot. All I see on social media is mindless “diddygatari” comments and posts and I had no clue what it even was about
