Anime NYC Crew here 🙋🏻♀️I’ve been working every year since 2019 & I’ve attend NYCC since 2010. I agree that Anime NYC is significantly smaller & more people are attending. They really need to bring in more vendors and move the artist alley to a separate section of Javits!

I noticed Anime NYC kinda declining too. I agree they should have kept it in November first of all, and the past couple years it seemed to be mostly V Tubers! That is why I just flipped my tickets this year. I already went to conventions with Luffy and Zoro tons of times it’s just not worth the travel for me anymore sadly. Anime Expo always looks amazing by comparison

omg I miss ANYC in November so much just because August has already so many cons (Otakon, Popcult etc) and agree that it’s such a good buffer con after NYCC!! Miss the days where Sunday prices was 35 bucks and 3 day were 68 bucks 😖

I feel like the exhibitors and booths were very lackluster and there wasn’t anything I wanted to take pictures by. What happened to catbus and studio ghibli? A giant bowl of ramen for Naruto? Being in the forger living room? Something that makes you actually want to wait in line

For the lack of licensed booths I wonder if the geopolitical climate and tariffs have anything to do with it, and Japanese companies would rather spend their money on the larger cons like NYCC

So GoGo curry is interesting - they went out of business in NYC earlier in the year, and only recently reopened one or two locations. Something to do with a franchising deal maybe? It's quite possible that GoGo Curry wasnt in business when plans had to be finalized for AnimeNYC this year. Hopefully they're back next year!

Yes to the AC! And I’m sorry but so many people smelled SO bad, it was insane. I’m sure the AC would have helped folks not get so sweaty.

If I have to choose, it’s NY Comic Con every year over Anime NYC. Anime NYC in August is nuts as I’m assuming they’re trying to compete with other cons but weather in August ain’t friendly over here, LOL

Also been going to ANYC since 2017, tons of AI in artist alley/dealers room, also the food quality downstairs? I need them to get on the ball with that. I love my home con so much I only want them to get better 😭

the con has gotten significantly worse each year. they fail to be organized year after year and its incredibly frustrating to watch the price go up while the management doesnt do anything to make the convention better… influencers are not guests in my opinion. people who wanna go for the anime dont get much and the guests that ARE cool they do through a lottery and its just not worth it. NYCC imo is SO fun and honestly so much more worth it. much more organized, not perfect by any means but i do feel listened to and i feel like the panels r better! anyways im glad i didnt miss out this year.

Been working at this convention for 5 years, this was my last year. I can’t do it anymore.. I preferred the convention way more in November and the smell is atrocious. I’m done.
