Yes! I bought a swim vest thinking it was an actual life jacket. Luckily I have never used it and won’t. Thanks for the reminder, I do need fo find a uscg approved one.

I’m gonna argue this with facts that I have seen with my own eyes…. Not saying you are wrong but my son jumped off the boat at the lake with a brand new life jacket on and sank like a rock! I had to jump and save him because he was not surfacing! Both of my children wear the “swim vest” now and are so much safer than they were with that life jacket! The swim vest brings them to the surface IMMEDIATELY!

Also, if your infant is too small to wear a life jacket, they might be too small to be on the boat. Holding them is not a guarantee, if anything happens and you all go flying, that baby will be the first one to drowned.

Pet peeve, people who spend tens of thousands of dollars on a boat and put their kids in one of those orange “Included CG package” life jackets. You mean to tell me you can drop $50 on a good, properly fitting life jacket.

The amount I see children on boats with NO lifejacket SENDS me. My children know that if they are near water they have a lifejacket on at all times!!! They love their lifejackets

Coastguard approved vest are the only ones I allow on my boat! And we are inspected each time we launch for all the proper safety gear!

I’ve started paddle boarding this summer. I keep seeing parents paddle boarding with their kids and no one is wearing a lifejacket and that is crazy to me

Okay glad I trusted my gut. I needed the next size up for my son and saw the swim vest. I didn’t see any coast guard cert so I found a teen life vest that’s in his size.

Puddle jumpers being the main “swim vest” are coast guard approved. I’m a big life jacket advocate but the main issue with any type is them fitting correctly.

My son (2) was in a life vest and fell in. We knew he was going to and I wanted to see how he would react and how the life vest would hold up. He rotated in a circle and everytime that he made the rotation his face was in the water. Why don’t companies make larger infant sized ones for 2 year olds? He’s 32lbs
