I was volunteering in Guatemala. Turtle conservation project. Good people. Good work. And then the voice came. Not a thought. Not a pros and cons list. Just a knowing that would not stop. Leave. Now. I couldn't explain it to my friends. I couldn't explain it to myself. Everyone was annoyed. But I had learned enough by then to know that when that voice gets all consuming there is only one right response. You move. So four of us caught the next bus out. A month later a group of people from the same project walked into our hostel. And told us what had happened the night after we left. Poachers had arrived on the beach. Threatening to rape and murder the volunteers. That was the night I stopped questioning whether the voice was real. Here's what I know now: 1. It speaks before the danger arrives. Before the evidence. Before any of it makes sense. That is the point. 2. Logic is a brilliant tool. But it cannot see what your highest self already knows. 3. The men who move through life with the least regret are not the smartest. They are the most tuned in. The question is not whether that voice exists in you. It does. The question is whether you've been trained by the world to keep dismissing it.
