The Dsquared2 Fall Winter 2013 menswear runway show is widely remembered as one of the most theatrical and high energy fashion presentations of its era. Designers Dean and Dan Caten completely transformed the Milan runway into a hyper realistic boarding school classroom setting that set the stage for an unforgettable performance. Before the clothes even took center stage, the set design instantly transported the audience into a story of teenage rebellion. The runway was lined with vintage wooden school desks, old school chalkboards, and retro classroom props, immediately establishing a vivid narrative. The show opened with an incredibly playful and rebellious skit where models acted as misbehaving students, throwing paper airplanes and creating chaos in the classroom before the actual fashion presentation commenced. This narrative element perfectly introduced the core theme of the collection, which the designers cleverly titled Good Family, Bad Reputation. The entire aesthetic was a masterful juxtaposition of elite, high society prep school styling mixed with an aggressive, bad boy streetwear edge. It was about taking traditional, conservative academic uniforms and completely subverting them through the lens of modern luxury and youthful defiance. The clothing itself perfectly mirrored this conceptual blend of proper and punk. Models walked the runway wearing immaculately tailored garments that had been heavily modified to look effortlessly cool and lived-in. Key pieces included ultra skinny, low waist trousers that defied traditional tailoring standards, paired with sharply cropped jackets that enhanced the rebellious silhouette. Traditional prep staples like structured sweater vests, crisp button down shirts, and academic neckties were layered beneath heavy, rugged outerwear. The collection also heavily featured beautiful Alpine winter knits, distressed denim elements, and oversized overcoats that gave the models a tough, commanding presence on the runway. What made the show truly legendary was how the designers maintained this specific classroom narrative beyond just the physical runway. The overarching school theme was further immortalized in their official Fall 2012 advertising campaign, which took the form of a highly stylized fashion film titled The Substitutes. In this film, Dean and Dan Caten played the role of strict schoolteachers trying and failing to control an unruly classroom filled with the worlds top male models. This era of Dsquared2 perfectly encapsulated their signature brand DNA, combining top tier Italian craftsmanship with a sense of humor, pop culture storytelling, and raw, theatrical entertainment that is rarely seen on the modern runway. #dsquared2 #looks #models #malemodel #Runway
