Sounds like diversity of thought is what matters. When you throw in skin color, it becomes a system nobody can justify.

But when building rockets or bridges; flying planes or performing surgery, or playing basketball, football or baseball. Merit is the only thing that should be considered.

Sure, diversity is great, but only when it happens naturally, when all the people in the team EARNED their place in it and no one was forced into the team because of some physical/behavioral trait.

10 people wanting a job, 10 resumes to go through , 10 blind interviews and boom you pick the most qualified if it ends up with everyone at this company is one demographic so be it. I now have the best people based off of qualifications I was looking for. Now I’m told as to have good optics I need to have a percentage of a particular demographic. Now experience is just a side bar because I have to have “X” employee/employees.

The logical fallacy is the assumption that diversity of race must imply diversity of thought. The same race can certainly have diverse thoughts, and different races can also have common thoughts.

Yeah, we've all been through this same DEI training in the workplace. The problem is my manager can't backfill a vacancy with high qualified candidates who lost interest because we had to wait for a POC to apply. DEI is never solely about respecting diverse ideas. It always bleeds into hiring practices where qualified candidates get looked over because they don't fit HRs "needs." I've seen it happen over and over.

Yeah. It's a nice and comforting theory. But the experience has shown terrible results, such as ruining the US film industry.

Great analogy!!!!
People that restrict condiment usage to just ketchup are bad.
People who tell you that you must use vinegar because, you already used too much ketchup are bad as well.
Don't force condiment usage and enjoy the many condiments that are available.

I am not one of those incel conservative white dudes. Still straight and white so take with grain of salt: I think diversity in education and in the workplace is extremely important and we should make every effort to obtain it. THAT BEING SAID, I think it is foolish (although v easy) to write off some of the DEI complaints. I worked at a law firm that wouldn’t fire a terrible, useless associate because she was a black woman and firing her would make the firm ineligible for getting govt contracts. I agree with the aim of the policy, but it’s not a good one.

DEI never actually measures diverse background or perspective, just minimizing the number of whites, men, straights, etc. who are hired

Condiment choices are tied to diversity? White people started the ketchup , ranch and malt vinegar on French fries culinary choices.
