@drstephanieyomo: Name one supplement, vitamin or food that helped you tremendously in perimenopause or menopause. For me it was Vitamin D. Deficiencies in Vitaminn D can mimic menopause symptoms. After getting my levels checked they were extremely low. Many black women face a higher deficiency of Vitamin D due to skin pigmentation hindering UVB absorption from the sun. Add on the fact that I live in the Midwest where we have some dreary winters, my levels were very low. After adding on Vitamin D and other lifestyle changes, I started to see symptoms improve. I'm 75 and never had some of the debilitating symptoms mentioned, possibly due to how many soy products I consumed during my 20's to 50's. I did, however, experience mood swings and mild depression, later treated with anti-depressants.
